I hadn’t been to Millenia Walk for years and was pleasantly surprised by the changes the mall had undergone.

My first visit was in June this year, to attend the Toshiba YouMe launch at Plentyfull. The food and space there impressed me so much, I promised to revisit the mall again soon.

Millenia Walk will be celebrating our nation’s 54th birthday with a market featuring local delights, performances and promotions from 15 July till 18 August.

The mall’s F&B tenants – all homegrown brands – will be introducing some new and refreshing dishes for a limited time only. Lifestyle tenants will also be running special promotions during the same period.

Food is one thing that never fails to unite us Singaporeans. During the food tasting, we got to partake in some of the celebratory offerings. There were quite a few dishes by Elemen, Joy Luck 65, Patisserie G and The Green Bar that I liked.

The Local-licious 8-course menu ($38.80) by Elemen is a carefully curated menu of delicious local meat-free delights.

The fried carrot cake was crispy on the outside but had a melt-in-your-mouth texture on the inside. The salted egg popiah was also good but I wished the egg flavour could have been more pronounced. The mantou in Golden Mantou with Spicy Chilli Sauce was not quite crispy enough during the tasting probably because it had been left out for a while before being served to the media but the chilli sauce that came with it saved the day.

It was mildly spicy and sweet and had bits of Monkey mushrooms in it. The sauce reminded me a little of a sweeter and more tangy version of a chilli crab sauce.

The Mantou Bhaji ($7.50) by Fusion Indian restaurant Joy Luck 65’s new dish had an oriental twist to it and was a literal joy to eat.

The bun was so fragrant and crispy, I could have eaten three or four in a row. The Indian-style mixed vegetable curry that came with it was equally addictive.

I am no Bandung fan but liked the Patisserie G Bandung Éclair ($9.50) so much that I had two in a row during the tasting.

The choux pastry was light and fluffy and the cream’s bandung flavour wasn’t too overpowering. The dessert was also beautiful shade of pink and so IG-worthy.

The Green Bar’s Baked Norwegian Salmon ($18.90) came served with healthy brown rice. The highlight of the dish was the ultra rich vegetable coconut curry that complimented the fish and rice perfectly.

Fumee by Habanos’s Laksa Prawn Pasta ($20.00) was another winner. The dry laksa pasta was full of flavour but I wish the Tiger prawns came peeled so it’s easier to eat.

We also paid a visit to The Whiskey Distillery during the media tour and all of us totally enjoyed the tasting session there. They source their range of whiskey from Japan and Scotland, some of which were exclusively available here, in the whole of Asia.

During the National Day promotional period, customers will receive a complimentary copita glass with purchase of the Auchentoshan 21-year-old whisky.

Interestingly, the space also functions as a whiskey bar so you can have a drink there as well. So order a shot or two to try if you can’t decide on which whisky to purchase. We got to try three different whiskys during the media tour, and The Tweeddale 28 year old was my favourite.

Another highlight of the media tour was Commune Lifestyle & Café.  The furniture and lifestyle shop is running several promotions and offering complimentary interior design advice to customers who spend a minimum of $3,000.

The café that is integrated into the space, had a cozy and intimate ambience. The new Red Velvet Latte ($6.00 for hot and $7.00 cold) was quite the treat, but the coffee addict in me fell in love with the Latte here.

Pop by Love In A Bottle if the inner urban farmer in you is inexplicably drawn to plants wherever you go.

The shop specializes in indoor plants, lifestyle decorative ornaments, and gifts. A wide range of readymade terrariums and miniature table gardens are available in-store.

Hyggerium (hoo-guh-rium) which means “cozy place”  offers a wide array of beautiful home decor products, unique local designs and creative gifts ideas. The shop is offering up to 20% discount on selected items during this period.

The National Day promotions and activities at Millenia Walk will be held from 15 July 2019 to 18 August 2019.
