Finding a true moment of stillness is increasingly rare in a world brimming with endless to-do lists, constant notifications, and the ever-present hum of busy city life. For many of us in Singapore, taking a deep breath to reset is more of a well-worn phrase than a reality we practice. And yet, during the media preview of the Journey to Inner Peace event, I had the unique opportunity to experience what it truly means to step back, be present, and immerse myself in a space designed solely for calm.

Held at The Fullerton Hotel, the session provided an intimate setting for exploring Himalayan Samarpan Meditation, a practice grounded in the spiritual heritage of the Himalayas. Leading us through the experience was His Holiness Shree Shivkrupanand Swami, or Swamiji as he’s affectionately called.

As the founder of Himalayan Samarpan Meditation, Swamiji has dedicated his life to teaching this transformative approach, which combines simplicity with profound spiritual wisdom. To be personally guided by him in meditation was nothing short of a privilege, a rare moment to engage with an age-old technique directly from a Himalayan master.

Diving Deep To Look Within For Wellness

Swamiji’s presence alone emanates a calm energy, inviting those around him to slow down and breathe. As he shared his insights on meditation and its role in managing stress and anxiety, I felt a surprising sense of ease. His explanation of the practice’s roots was deeply enriching, not only clarifying what Himalayan Samarpan Meditation is but also why it stands out among modern wellness trends.

While many wellness practices focus on surface-level relaxation or temporary mood boosters, Samarpan Meditation dives deeper, encouraging a connection to one’s core self, fostering a profound resilience, and nurturing a grounded mental space that can handle life’s daily demands.

Swamiji shared how his years of spiritual training in the Himalayas equipped him to create and share this meditation practice with the world. Himalayan Samarpan Meditation was born out of his desire to help others discover and cultivate an inner peace that doesn’t waver amid life’s challenges. His years under the mentorship of Himalayan gurus instilled in him a vision to bring this practice to the modern world, and since 1994, he has introduced thousands globally to the peace and insight of Samarpan Meditation.

The event also gave us a chance to ask Swamiji questions about incorporating meditation into daily life. His answers were rooted in both practical wisdom and spiritual depth, reflecting a practice that is accessible yet transformative. Swamiji emphasised the importance of consistency over perfection, encouraging us to meditate in small moments throughout the day rather than waiting for the “perfect” time or setting. This resonated deeply, especially in Singapore’s fast-paced lifestyle where waiting for calm can often mean we never find it. Instead, Swamiji’s advice suggested that we make calm moments a part of our routine, inviting meditation to be as natural as our morning coffee or evening walk.

The session concluded with a guided meditation led by Swamiji, which gently encouraged us to release the day’s tension and be fully present. There was no expectation of reaching a certain “state of calm” or silencing our thoughts completely—a refreshing departure from typical meditation techniques. Instead, Swamiji guided us to simply notice our breath and focus on the feeling of being centred.

In this simplicity, the experience became powerful; it was as though layers of stress were slowly dissolving with each breath. For a brief moment, I felt a true stillness, a profound and unforced peace that left me wondering why we don’t seek this kind of pause more often.

Experience Some Quiet This Saturday

Leaving the media preview, I felt inspired and motivated to invite others to experience the journey for themselves.

For those interested, Journey to Inner Peace will host a free public event on 9 November 2024, from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Hibiscus Ballroom. Open to anyone seeking greater peace and connection, this event is a rare chance to experience Swamiji’s teachings firsthand.

The sessions are free, offering an opportunity for everyone to explore a practice designed to foster resilience, insight, and a sense of unity with oneself.

In a time when wellness has become synonymous with costly treatments, fleeting fads, and superficial solutions, Himalayan Samarpan Meditation stands out as a practice both timeless and accessible. Rather than aiming for temporary relaxation, it cultivates resilience and calmness that permeates into our daily lives, creating lasting change and deep fulfilment. For those grappling with stress or simply seeking a way to reconnect with themselves, this event offers a genuine pathway to calm and well-being.

Imagine a Singapore where, instead of racing to keep up with stress, we each take moments to pause, breathe, and reconnect with our inner selves. Journey to Inner Peace is more than an event—it’s an invitation to rediscover our capacity for peace amid the whirlwind of life.

This weekend, I encourage you to attend, experience Swamiji’s presence, and perhaps find that inner stillness you didn’t realise you were missing. Whether you’re new to meditation or a seasoned practitioner, the event welcomes you to participate in a powerful collective journey. A journey to Inner Peace is waiting, and perhaps this could be the start of a new chapter of calm for us all.
