Let me start off by saying that I am a very clean person. I religiously brush my teeth twice, sometimes three times a day but ever since the pandemic and face masks and coverings became mandatory, I have come to realise that my breath smells stale on a good day, and like a garbage can on others.
Therefore, when my editor passed me oral hygiene products from Pearlie White to trial, I was happy, but also worried that she thought that my breath was horrid too!
For those of you new to the brand, Pearlie White is the only home grown oral care brand, the only brand that has oral care manufacturing facilities in our country and was also founded by the country’s first dental practitioner, Dr. Cheong Chun Tin. It is also a cruelty free brand that does not conduct any animal testing!
Blanc Perfect Professional Whitening Toothpaste $10.50
The toothpaste promises to give users five times the stain removing effect and has an efficacy report that indicates that it whitens better than other leading whitening toothpastes. It’s also one of the few whitening toothpastes in the market with no harsh abrasives. So it’s safe and gentle for everyday use, and help fight plaque, soothe gums and freshens the breath.
I really like the toothpaste. It has a much subtler flavour and much less foam compared to any of the other brands that I have used, and it also leaves my mouth feeling much cleaner and fresher than it does when I use some of the other big brands available in the market. Since brushing once in the morning (it’s now late afternoon) my breath does not smell gross at all.
It is also packed with ingredients that help remove stains and restore whiteness and shine to teeth including pearl powder, mannan, sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate. I have not used it for long enough to comment on its whitening abilities, but I plan to continue and see if it does make my coffee stained teeth look whiter!
All Pearlie White® toothpastes do NOT contain SLS, Parabens, Triclosan, Titanium Dioxide, Artificial Coloring, Polyethylene Glycol (PEG), Propylene Glycol (PPG), Alcohol Diethylene Glycol (DEG), Mineral Oils, Retinol, Saccharin, Peroxide.
Instant Breath Freshening Spray 8.5ml 100 sprays $5.50
Ever since I had to smell my own breath when wearing a mask, I have been brushing, gargling and flossing like a maniac, particularly just before I put on my mask, so having a little breath spray that I can use for when my breath starts to smell rank is a true godsend!
I can now drown my chicken rice in garlic sauce without having to worry about my stinky breath killing my boyfriend.
The breath spray comes in three minty fresh flavours – IcyMint, SpearMint and Alcohol-Free Cool Mint, and is able to freshen even the grossest breath instantly.
Fluorinze Antibacterial Fluoride Mouth Rinse $8.20
To prevent mask-breath, I brush my teeth with my Pearlie White toothpaste and gargle like a champion with my Pearlie White mouth wash, and I swear my breath smells so much better for longer.
Gentle and safe for everyday use, it freshens the breath, destroys plaque-causing bacteria, relieves tooth sensitivity, strengthens tooth enamel and is enhanced with added ingredients like Xylitol and Thymol to help fight bacteria that cause bad breath, plaque and cavities.
While I am not saying that the other oral care brands are not good, I personally like the fact that Pearlie White products are cruelty free and I do find that my breath stays fresher longer when I use their range. If I had to choose a favourite, I would say that the Blanc Perfect Professional Whitening Toothpaste gets my vote. I really like how gentle and yet effective it is, and I also like how it tastes and feels in my mouth.
All Pearlie White products are available through their website, NTUC FairPrice and online shopping platforms like Lazada, Shopee and many more.
