Earth Hour is an annual event, usually held on the last Saturday evening in March, when millions of people and thousands of business worldwide turn off lights and shut down most electrical appliances to celebrate sustainability and show their support for strategies that will help solve the problem of global warming.

This year, we are highlighting three brands that are doing their part to be more socially responsible and sustainable.

Samsonite Partners With WWF

Samsonite once again partners with World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF), to raise awareness of environmental concerns in Singapore. From Friday, 7 February 2020 to Tuesday, 31 March 2020, customers can trade in any preloved luggage at any Samsonite store island-wide to enjoy up to 30% off the Samsonite Aspero or Samsonite Varro range of luggage.

Samsonite will donate S$10 to WWF for every trade-in purchase during the campaign. Additionally, Samsonite will partner with a local waste management firm to reduce their carbon footprint and fight plastic wastage.

In conjunction with Earth Hour, Samsonite will be switching off non-essential lights in its retail stores every Monday, from 12.00pm to 1.00pm, throughout the campaign period.

Timberland Increases Its Use Of Recycled Material

Timberland builds upon its forward-thinking Nature Needs Heroes campaign by adhering to its long- standing commitment to create products responsibly while steadily increasing its use of recycled, organic and renewable materials over time.

This season, Timberland builds its series from its archive of functional fabrics and outdoor silhouettes to create a brand-new collection of hiking apparel, that combines retro influences with modern street style and the latest fabric technologies.

The collection follows in the footsteps of Timberland’s concerted sustainability initiatives to minimize the environmental impact of its designs, by utilizing innovative and sustainable fabric technologies such as ReBOTLTM lining, which is made from at least 50 percent recycled polyester.
