The home of Pharaohs and falafel, Egypt is amongst the most intriguing places on this planet. With dazzling deserts, beautiful beaches and resplendent ruins, the land of antiquities and ancient civilizations is the ultimate holiday destination.

Connecting Europe and Asia, Egypt is a tourist hot spot offering adventure, relaxation and culture all wrapped up in one stunning country. We explored what it has to offer to help inspire and guide you for your trip to this bucket list destination.

Be Wowed by Ancient Wonders

Of course, no visit would be complete without checking out the fantastic Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, but did you know that there are many other fascinating archaeological sites to visit in Egypt? If history is your passion, then you also need to go to Luxor and check out the many ancient tombs in the Valley of the Kings. While in the area, be sure to visit the Temple of Karnak to gaze in awe at one of Egypt’s grandest ruins.

If you haven’t had your fill of pyramids or temples, take time to check out Saqqara’s monuments, just over an hour south of Cairo and Abydos’ Temple of Osiris, north of Luxor. Both have fewer visitors so you can spend more time wandering around without jostling to take photographs.

Fall for the Natural Charm

When you are tired of the manmade structures of old, take some time out to relax and rejuvenate amongst the country’s stunning natural landscapes and beaches. Feel like you have landed on another planet as you take a wander through the chalky mountains and columns that make up the White Desert, part of the Sahara.

Or top up your tan on one of the many heavenly beaches the country has to offer. Choose the perfection of the Red Sea’s Mahmya Island, the hidden gem of Agiba Beach on the Mediterranean or any of the other famous seaside resorts–you will not be disappointed.

Enjoy the sights along one of the world’s most famous and longest rivers–the Nile–by taking a boat trip. Whether you do a cruise or take a small local boat or falucca, it is the perfect way to absorb the majesty of this glorious river. Take a day trip or soak up the atmosphere and twinkling lights at night.

Check out the Cities

Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor are all places that sing us songs of mystery and intrigue. Capital Cairo is a must if you want to immerse yourself in the culture and charm of Egypt. A bustling metropolis that marries ancient and modern as it stands majestically on the River Nile. Shop in souks, sample delicious food in this up and coming foodie destination or find out more about the country’s long history at the Egyptian Museum. And don’t forget to check out the many magnificent mosques that give it the nickname “the city of a thousand minarets.”

Follow in the footsteps of one of history’s most famous queens as you visit Alexandria, the home of Cleopatra. Standing proud on the Mediterranean coast, this city has lost a lot of its ancient buildings, but some can still be found amongst the almost European feeling streets. Wander the seafront, sip delicious coffee in the curious cafes this city is famed for or be pampered like a queen with a spa day

Even if you are not in search of history, in Luxor, history finds you. The streets are like an open-air museum. Explore the city in a horse-drawn carriage, view it from above in a hot air balloon or simply stroll through the streets feeling like a time traveller. Check out the evening sound and light show at the Karnak Temple for a truly unique experience of history.

Get Your Adrenaline Pumping

If high-octane adventures and pushing yourself to your limits is more your thing, Egypt has that too! From bungee jumping to deep-sea diving, your inner adrenaline junkie will be sated.
