Let’s face it, life is crazy: filled with stress, monotony, worry, and, yes, boredom. And that’s why we love picture shows. People crave a good story and a great escape. And, after all, that’s what the movies are all about. We love the sets, the drama, the surprises, the stunts, and we love it when the underdog rises from sure defeat to save the damsel–or the world–at the last second.

A whodunnit murder mystery, international espionage with a twist, and an alien invasion to save the world–Netflix knows the business of entertainment. Fans have a lot to get excited about in the next few months. Knives Out, Spies In Disguise, and Netflix’s new series Another Life are trailers that offer up more than just a teaser, and we are loving it.

These compelling sneak peeks wow us with their star-studded cast, madcap tone, and tantalising tastes of storytelling are just daring us to resist the temptation, knowing full well we won’t. You won’t be disappointed. There’s something here for the whole family.

Knives Out

In the opening moments of the trailer, two detectives, played by Daniel Craig and LaKeith Stanfield, are interviewing the quirky relatives and devoted staff of the family patriarch who was found dead at his manor after his 85th birthday party. They suspect foul play and don’t plan on leaving until the investigation is satisfactorily completed.

Knives Out is the next highly anticipated film from the acclaimed writer and director Rian Johnson of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. With an all-star ensemble cast, including Christopher Plummer, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, and Katherine Langford. With a marquee filled with names like that, one is tempted to attend just to see what everyone’s been up to lately.

If you like twists, turns, and cutting banter typically reserved for only your dearest family members, you’re bound to be enthralled and thoroughly entertained. This Thanksgiving, gather your family and see if you can figure out whodunnit–if you dare.

Spies In Disguise

Blue Sky Studios brings us more film magic with Spies In Disguise, an animated film set in the globe-trotting world of international espionage.

In the trailer, Will Smith is the voice of the world’s most awesome spy, Lance Sterling. When this super-spy is accidentally turned into a pigeon, he must team up with gadget inventor Walter Beckett, the voice of Tom Holland. The smooth-talking, uniquely skilled, and debonair Lance has to rely on the socially inept but technically brilliant Walter to keep his game on. This odd couple, in a comedy of errors, must figure out how to work together to save the world.

This is a lighthearted, fast-paced action, comedy adventure that’s appropriate for audiences of all ages. The graphics and animation are mesmerising and the Smith-esk one-liners will keep the adults entertained, too.

Spies In Disguise premieres in theatres this Christmas. It’s the perfect holiday film to enjoy with the entire family. It will change how you view spying forever.

Another Life

It’s the most important mission in the history of human-kind, and so begins this upcoming science-fiction drama series on Netflix.

Netflix’s Another Life is an upcoming 10-episode science fiction series filled with all the thrilling space action, tense drama, radical surprises, and far-out alien conceptualisations on which the Sci-Fi communities thrive. Sci-Fi fans will no doubt recognise the intergalactic veteran, Katee Sackhoff, from Sci-Fi Channel’s Battlestar Galactica, and The CW Network’s The Flash.

In the trailer, a massive alien artefact has landed on earth. Niko Breckinridge, played by Sackhoff, and her husband have to figure out where the artefact came from and why it is on Earth. Before Breckinridge leads a crew on humanity’s first interstellar mission to the alien’s planet of origin to make the first contact, the stage is set with promises made of her imminent return, building audience anticipation and urgency as viewers root for the rescue human-kind.

And the tension doesn’t stop there. From the start, the mission doesn’t appear to be going well. The crew comes up against unknown obstacles and can’t seem to agree on what to do. Throw in a couple of surprise alien attacks, and this dark and suspenseful series will find you spellbound in no time. It’s thrillers like this that make us binge-watch.

Rounding out the cast are Justin Chatwin (Dr Who), Selma Blair (Hellboy), Elizabeth Faith Ludlow (The Walking Dead), and Tyler Hoechlin (Super Girl)–also well-known to science fiction and fantasy fans.

The series has the feel of the film Arrival and other big-budget, science fiction television shows like Stargate SG-1, Dark Matters, and Netflix’s Lost in Space. Another Life premieres July 25th. In a fight for humanity, what would you do to protect the ones you love?

What are you waiting for?Whether you’re looking for a Sci-Fi invasion, super-spy theatrics, or a thought-provoking thriller, 2019 looks like a year that will captivate movie-watchers worldwide with some truly awesome entries to the box-office.
