Usher in the auspicious Lunar New Year with a hearty, mouth-watering Reunion Dinner at award-winning Gu Ma Jia

The much-loved family restaurant is best known for its philosophy of using no MSG, less oil, less salt and less sugar wherever possible in their dishes.

For 2019, new exciting Chinese New Year dishes are being launched, along with the usual tasty New Year dishes that customers look forward to every year!  Highlights include Roasted Suckling Pig, Claypot Sesame Oil Chicken, Lychee Sweet and Sour Grouper, Assam Fishhead and Flaming Pork Ribs. And for such a special occasion, one should not forget the exquisite Lobster Cold Platter!

Flaming Pork Ribs

Gu Ma, the iconic figure on Gu Ma Jia’s logo, has a strong passion for cooking, especially scrumptious home-cooked dishes. She has been the face of Gu Ma Jia since it was established in November 2009, and she continues to serve up a variety of home-cooked dishes, prepared with passion – for families to enjoy and bond over food.

There is a homely atmosphere at Gu Ma Jia which instantly puts you at ease as soon as you step through its front doors. Fortunately our table has been reserved for us, as the restaurant is already buzzing with customers, upstairs and downstairs!

The air is full of tantalizing aromas and I know we’re in for a treat as Gu Ma herself has promised us some of the best-loved dishes from her menu.

Highlights for me include the spicy, aromatic Assam Fishhead with its piquant, zesty gravy which lifts not only the flavour of the fish but also the generous variety of vegetables cooked in the dish, including melt-in-your-mouth lady’s fingers and aubergines.

The Flaming Pork Ribs are another dish to be enjoyed slowly and decadent, with meat literally falling off the bones and a thick, gingery gravy adding to the taste sensation…

Suffice it to say that by the end of the evening I could hardly move, but nevertheless this was a totally guilt-free indulgence – healthy, home-cooked cuisine at its best… definitely deserving of several repeat visits!
