When you think of afternoon tea, you cant help but think of L’Espresso at the Goodwood Park Hotel. This grand old dame nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road, is the perfect setting for an elegant English Afternoon Tea.
You can relive the opulence of the colonial era as soon as you mount the steps of this stunning heritage site. The ‘Victorian English Afternoon Tea’ is only on offer for a limited period, from 1 June to 22 July 2018 and is a foodie’s delight that should not to be missed.
The Victorian English Afternoon Tea includes all the traditional British favourites, from Beef Wellington (Parma Ham, Beef Pastrami and Portobello Confit) and Three Little Pigs (Smoked pork, Gammon and Meatloaf) finger sandwiches; Coronation Chicken with Mango Chutney and Almonds open-faced sandwich.
Hearty hot savouries to look forward to include Braised Pork with Stout in Hot Pot served with Homemade Brioche; Toad in the Hole, Fish and Chips with Malt Vinegar, Cottage Pie, as well as Mini Corned Beef and Leek Quiche.
As tempting as everything is, do keep some space for the sweets. Their Bread and Butter Pudding (is totally to die for), Sticky Toffee Pudding; Strawberries and Cream Trifle; Mini Sherry Trifle; Treacle Tart and of course L’Espresso’s ever-popular plain, blueberry and raisin scones (that were so fluffy and light and an absolute delight) are best enjoyed with the accompanying assorted jams, marmalade, Devonshire clotted cream as well and butter.
This delightful British themed tea menu is available at the regular price of $48++ per adult and $24++ per child from Fridays to Sundays, eve of and on public holidays; and $45++ per adult and $22.50++ per child from Mondays to Thursdays. The price includes two servings of freshly brewed coffee or tea from a selection of premium coffee and TWG Tea. I would personally recommend their iced coffee and number 1 tea, which without exaggeration was perfectly brewed and absolutely divine.
If you fancy some bubbly to get you through the day, you can choose to accompany your afternoon tea with a glass of champagne at $72++ per adult from Fridays to Sundays, eve of and on public holidays, or $68++ per adult from Mondays to Thursdays.
