Like many girls, I wasn’t always so observant when it came to recognizing subtle changes in the condition of my skin.

But I can still remember the day when I suddenly became aware that my T-zone was no longer as oily as before. After that, I switched from shopping for skincare meant for combination/sensitive skin to skincare catering for “normal to dry skin”, “sensitive dry skin” and anti-ageing skincare. So dryness was the first sign of ageing for me, way before more obvious signs of skin ageing showed up.

Unfortunately, I hate skincare that leaves behind a sticky residual, which is rather typical of skincare meant for mature skin. Richer skincare sits uncomfortably on the skin surface, especially when the weather is warm and humid. I am sure many women in Singapore share my sentiments.

Although I adore oil-free skincare, I worry they’re not hydrating and nourishing enough, as they are typically targeted at younger and oilier skin types that don’t have the same skincare concerns that I have. So I am also constantly on the look out for anti-ageing skincare with a light texture that doesn’t irritate my rather sensitive skin. Hydrating and anti-ageing ingredients are also necessary to keep wrinkles and saggy skin at bay.

The good news is I think I might have just found an ideal solution in Porcelain Intensive HA+ Hydrating Serum ($198.00, 30ml).

I was happy to learn at the official launch of the serum earlier this week that this hydration powerhouse suits all skin types, including oily, dry, eczema-prone and even sensitive skin like mine that has anti-ageing needs.

The multi-tasker stabilises sensitive skin, and stops signs of premature ageing in its tracks – while deeply hydrating and reducing acne breakouts, all thanks to the four customised complexes that include multiple powerhouse ingredients.

It is little wonder that the first batch of 2,000 bottles were snapped up within 6 weeks of its soft launch, much to the surprise and delight of Pauline Ng, Founder and Managing Director of Porcelain.

The four customized complexes include:

  • Anti-Acne, Anti-Bacterial Blend

Lactobacillus Ferment (Probiotics) conditions skin and counteracts acne bacteria to prevent breakouts.

  • Sensitive Complex

Aloe Vera and Cucumber calm the skin. Elderflower extract contains powerful antioxidants Vitamins A & C and will soothe even the most vulnerable skin that has undergone harsh aesthetic procedures such as laser treatments.

  • Anti-ageing Complex

Counters premature ageing with nutrient-rich Wakame (seaweed) extract, which prevents cell degeneration, repairs skin, improves the appearance of wrinkles and reduces redness.

Glycosaminoglycans help maintain and support collagen and elastin structures.

  • Deep Moisture Complex

Dual-chained Hyaluronic Acid in the formula is a super moisture magnet that holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water, as well as four hydrating ingredients – Butylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Polyquarternium-5, and Glycerin.

  • Porcelain Balance- Daily Cleansing Gel

Fans of the existing range of this local cult skincare brand may also like to know that the new Daily Cleansing Gel ($59.00, 120ml) launched on the same day, is actually an improved version of the discontinued Balance Deep Cleansing Gel.

Containing coconut extracts, AHA and BHA, it effectively flushes out impurities in the pores while maintaining essential skin moisture.
