Nestled on the second floor of a shophouse in Boat Quay, just a quick walk from Raffles MRT Station is IN HAIR SALON. Owned by two young and passionate hair stylists, the salon is more like a hip albeit homely bar/pub than a hair salon. 

Don’t be surprised if you are welcomed to the salon like an old friend. Once seated, you will be served a small bowl of freeze-dried fruit that is healthy and delicious and a drink of your choosing. I had a warm pomelo tea, but they also serve coffee and wine – yes all this for only $15!

Hair washing at this establishment is taken quite seriously. Expect to be pampered and cosseted, with a deep and relaxing shoulder massage. (I swear Billy has a degree in body massage because he got right into those tight knots on my shoulders and released the day’s tension, leaving me feeling like flopping over like a rag doll and having a nap right there on the floor – which I obviously didn’t do because I am far too dignified).

The salon concept and hair care products are all from Japan. The salon is highly instagrammable so don’t forget to take photos, lots of them!

A wash and cut for ladies costs $45 and $35 for men. Hair colouring is based on hair length and ladies’ hair colouring costs $128 (short hair), $158 (medium hair), and $188 (long hair), while men’s colouring would cost $68 (short hair), $98 (medium hair) and $128 (long hair).

For the month of February, enjoy a relaxing hair wash, shoulder massage and blow dry (no matter how long your hair is) for only $15 (the usual price ranges from $22-30 depending on hair length).
