Most mall trips follow a pretty predictable script: grab a flat white, wander through a few shops, and tick off the weekly essentials. If you find yourself around Serangoon this month, expect things to look decidedly livelier. Running from 9 to 25 October 2026, NEX is rolling out “Your Fitness Playground”, turning its retail floors into an interactive wellness hub.
Rather than leaving exercise strictly to the gym, the mall is hosting beginner-friendly workout circuits, active ageing workshops, and lucky draws.
A Four-Station Workout in Basement 2
If you fancy testing your stamina between errands, head down to the Event Plaza at Basement 2 for the NEXtreme Challenge. Taking place across two weekends—10 to 11 October and 17 to 18 October, from 12pm to 5pm—it features a swift, four-station circuit: the SkiErg, Sled Push, Rowing Machine, and Farmer’s Carry.
You do not need to be a seasoned athlete to join in. Coaches are stationed right beside each apparatus to show you the ropes, check your form, and keep the energy encouraging. The challenge is split thoughtfully across age groups: NEXrewards members aged 55 and above take the spotlight during the first weekend (10–11 October), while members aged 18 and over can jump in on 17 and 18 October.
To take part, spend a minimum of $20 in a single receipt at participating stores (supermarkets, beauty and enrichment outlets are excluded) and scan your member QR code. Swing by the Level 1 Customer Service Counter near Paris Baguette on the same day to redeem your eCoupon and lock in a 15-minute timeslot.
Everyone who powers through all four stations walks away with a handy NEXtreme pack containing a waterproof dry bag, microfibre towel, and water bottle. Just remember to lace up your trainers and wear something you can move comfortably in.
Active Living at Any Age
Over at the Level 1 Atrium on 10 and 11 October (10am to 8pm), the focus turns towards senior wellness with Active Ager’s Day @ NEX. Organised alongside the Braddell Heights Grassroots Organisation, the weekend brings together groups like the Health Promotion Board (HPB), Agency for Integrated Care (AIC), and Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).
It feels far more like a neighbourhood fair than a lecture. Visitors can join in with Taiji Rhythmball, catch dance showcases, and try out functional movement tests run by Sport Singapore’s Active Health team. There are also practical, conversational talks touching on mental resilience with Viriya Community Services and Silver Ribbon Singapore, as well as guidance on legacy planning and caregiver support via the CareCompass app.
Building a Routine with HPB’s Start2Move
For those looking to ease back into regular exercise without the intimidation factor, HPB is running Start2Move. Held on Saturday mornings from 3 October through 7 November at the B2 Event Plaza (10am to 11am), this free six-week clinic breaks down movement basics—from upper- and lower-body strength to flexibility and balance—wrapping up with a gentle graduation workout.
A Chance to Win Along the Way
Rounding out the month is a mall-wide lucky draw running through 25 October. Spending $30 in a single transaction at participating shops earns you an entry (up to 10 chances per member daily). Forty winners will share over $10,000 worth of prizes on 28 October, including OSIM uErgo chairs, &joy dining vouchers, and e-shopping credits.
Whether you want to see how far you can push a sled, pick up mobility tips for your parents, or simply enjoy a more active weekend stroll, it is an inviting way to inject a little extra movement into your week
