Since time immemorial people have expressed their appreciation, love, sympathy, recognition and thanks through the giving of gifts. And what better way to do that than through the gift of flowers?
Modern florists in Sydney and other Australian cities offer a staggering array of blossoms for any occasion be it an anniversary, birthday, Easter or Christmas and of course weddings where there are so many options for all manner of bouquets, arrangements and decorations.
In addition, flowers are a powerful way to say “thank you” (see a grandmother’s thanks below) or express our fervent wish that someone dear to us gets well. Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day are always associated with the giving of flowers. And on a more sombre note, flowers express heartfelt sympathy at funerals of loved ones and friends and remembrance on occasions like ANZAC day.
Aussie Florists
As Sydneysiders, we found a florist in Concord, NSW that has beautiful arrangements of roses, posies and natives and for those who would prefer not to receive cut flowers that wither they offer a more lasting concept in the form of potted plants and even terrariums.
There are even options for preserved flowers so that your thoughtfulness can be seen time and again on a wall or in a special place. The options are endless.
On the subject of which we would like to share a note that our 19-year-old daughter received from my mother after she contacted her out of the blue to just say thanks for being there for her. It touched our hearts that our daughter would do such as thing in this day and age and that the gesture was so clearly appreciated by my mum.
Here’s what she wrote in her thank you note:
“Oh, my dear sweet child, receiving those beautiful flowers from you on my birthday brought tears of joy to my eyes! What a lovely surprise! It was such a thoughtful gesture, Pickle, and it truly warmed my heart. Thank you ever so much, my darling.
“You know, trying to be there for you has always been my greatest joy. Watching you grow into the wonderful person you are today has been such a blessing. Your thoughtfulness and kindness remind me of why being a grandmother is such a precious gift.
I treasure every moment we’ve shared, from the stories we’ve read together to the laughter we’ve shared over silly jokes. You’ve brought so much happiness into my life, and I’m grateful beyond words for your love, kisses always Nanna.”
Yes, that brought a tear into the eyes of my wife and me too.
On a side note, make sure that your florist has ethically sourced their products and that they are following the design standards expected of consumers in Australia. Always look for positive and reliable testimonials when employing the services of florists as you would with any other kind of service.
