With #manifestation hashtags boasting over 32 billion views, it’s clear that everyone wants a piece of the wish-your-dream-life-true pie. Vision boards, affirmations, and journaling are just a few of the techniques thrown into the mix, promising to turn desires into reality.

I would argue that, in a time when most people are limited to the simple act of hoping for a brighter future, it’s no surprise that manifesting has become so popular. Much like those trends that emerged during quarantine—baking, tie-dyeing, or nailing dance routines—manifesting offers a sense of achievement when we feel powerless to enact substantial change amidst our current reality.
Plus, anyone can do it; all that’s required are your dreams and the contemplation of how wonderful it would be if they materialised.
According to TikTokers, scripting and reciting mantras are your instant life-changers. Conversely, experts are a bit more cautious against viewing these practices as magic spells. In fact, the real power of manifestation lies in cultivating the right mindset and actively working towards your goals.
The Burning Question: Does Manifesting Work?
While the idea of willing outcomes into existence might sound fantastical, experts agree that practising manifestation can have tangible benefits. Neuroscientists even claim that combining vision with action activates brain pathways related to motivation, reward, and movement, thus positively impacting mental health.
