The Body Shop has etched its name in history as the first global beauty brand to attain 100% vegan product formulation across all categories, spanning skincare, body care, hair care, makeup, and fragrance worldwide. This accomplishment is officially certified by The Vegan Society. The brand has not only met but exceeded its ambitious 2021 target, with 60% of its products already proudly bearing The Vegan Society trademark.
In celebration of this monumental achievement and in alignment with Veganuary this January, The Body Shop has launched the ‘Not Yes! Another Vegan‘ campaign, acknowledging the expected scepticism with a touch of humour.

The Body Shop holds the distinction of being the first beauty retailer to champion the cause against animal testing in cosmetics in 1989, driven by the fundamental belief that animals should not suffer in the pursuit of beauty. While the battle for a worldwide ban on animal testing in cosmetics continues, The Body Shop views achieving a fully vegan product range as the next significant milestone in cruelty-free beauty.
In response to the escalating demand for vegan beauty, this strategic move aligns with projections indicating a 6.31% annual growth in the $24 billion vegan cosmetics industry by 2028. With over one in ten young consumers prioritising ‘vegan’ in their health and beauty choices, The Body Shop’s shift to vegan products reflects a well-timed strategic adjustment.
The rigorous certification process by The Vegan Society involves validating over 4,000 ingredients for 1,000 products, ensuring a trusted trademark for The Body Shop.
