In Singapore’s tropical ( read – humid) weather, maintaining my skin’s hydration level is a huge challenge, especially since I have extremely dry, not to mention sensitive skin. In the recent past, I have tried at least a dozen different facials and treatments that promised to hydrate and moisturize my skin but sadly didn’t.
So, when my editor recommended that I try the Hydra Facial a medical facial treatment available at EHA Clinic, I was a little sceptical because my skin is not only very dry but also super-sensitive and I tend to get red and itchy bumps if it gets over-stimulated. Furthermore, I had never tried, let alone heard of medical facial treatment before, so I was not really sure what I was getting myself into. But since she was paying…
But first, let me explain briefly why I am never going back to regular facials after my Medical Facial experience. A medical facial is unlike your usual facial treatment at a beauty salon or spa. Medical facials are performed at medical clinics using medical grade products and equipment, which means that the results last much longer than any regular facial could. In short, a medical facial is like a facial on steroids; powerful and effective, but still pampering!
My visit to EHA Clinic impressed me no end. From the treatment to the highly skilled therapist to the amazing skin care products and the immediate and sustained results – everything was absolutely amazing, and after I was done, I could actually feel as well as see the difference. I was so impressed in fact that I plan to go back and sign a package with them and grab a bottle of their amazing sunscreen while I am at it.
The HydraFacial, which is only available at medical clinics, is great for a variety of skin issues like dryness, fine lines, congested skin, pigmentation and uneven skintone. It is a combination of deep cleansing, peeling, exfoliation, extraction and hydration. But unlike a normal facial treatment, it is able to deliver the essential nutrients like antioxidants and peptides deep into the skin. Also, as an added advantage, this facial is suitable for all skin types and can be easily customized based on your individual skin condition and needs.
Let Me Take You Through The Steps Of The HydraFacial
Step 1: Skin Analysis, Cleansing And Peeling
The treatment began with a skin test where they analyzed my skin type and accordingly selected the right products (solutions to be used in the hydrafacial machine), customizing the whole treatment based on my skin condition using a medical device called VISIA.
I was then taken to the treatment room, which had perfect lighting (I hate it when the lighting is too harsh on the eyes) and an overall relaxing ambience. The therapist began by cleansing my face using gentle sterilized wipes, cleansing milk and a foam-based cleanser. After cleansing and massaging, she gently exfoliated my skin with a moisturizing Vitamin-C peel-off mask.
Step 2: Extraction And Hydration
After a thorough cleansing massage, the therapist used the hydra facial handpiece to suction up and remove impurities and open up the pores. This also helps dislodge whiteheads and blackheads from tough-to-reach spots like the chin area and around the nose.
After that, the therapist infused my skin with different solutions like antioxidant-rich serums and hyaluronic acid. I know it sounds a little intimidating but to be honest it was absolutely painless and very relaxing.
Step 3: The Red 640nm Omega Light Treatment
Omega Light Photo Dynamic Therapy is one of the most integral parts of Hydra Facial at EHA Clinic. It is a clinically proven cell regenerative treatment, which also helps with pore minimization, pigmentation, acne management and whitening. To be honest, this was the step where I got a little intimidated when I saw the big red device. Thankfully, my therapist was not only good at facials but also a good counsellor. She explained the entire process to me and was patient with me before it began.
The best part is that it is safe for everyone – from expectant mothers to people with sensitive skin.
Quick tip, if it is your first time, the light can be a little too strong for you. If you ask your therapist to double your eye cover, you will be fine. It is a twenty-minute treatment, during which you have to keep your eyes closed and covered. The results are amazing and I guarantee that you will love it.
Step 4: Hydration Mask, Toner, Serum And The Final Touches
After the omega therapy, the therapist applied an amazing whitening and moisturizing hydration mask, which was followed by a hydration serum and toner. The final touch was yet another gentle massage and post-treatment skin analysis to gauge the results.
While there is no dearth of Hydra Facial providers in Singapore, I would recommend EHA Clinic for two primary reasons-
- They provide the Omega Light therapy, which most clinics don’t include as part of the Hydra Facial treatment.
- Their well-trained therapists give proper face, neck, shoulder and back massages. If you read reviews of other Hydra Facial providers (which I obviously did before spending the magazine’s money – due diligence and all), they do not include any spa-like services like massages etc. in the treatment. This is an EHA Clinic speciality, to ensure that their customers leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
While other Hydra Facial providers claim to finish the treatment in 30 minutes or so, if you are going for a holistic service at EHA Clinic, keep a two-two-and-a-half-hour slot free for this complete and utterly blissful treatment.
The Hydra Facial at EHA Clinic is an invigorating non-invasive medical facial treatment that promises long-term skin health and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of all skin types and conditions. It gives instant, noticeable results with no downtime or irritation while cleansing, hydrating and moisturizing your skin. Would I go again? Yes! I plan to sign a package for heaven’s sake, if that doesn’t tell you how much I loved it, I don’t know what will.
To find out more, visit EHA Clinic at #15-01, Shaw Center, 1 Scotts Road or call them on 6235 3325. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will happily answer any question you might have.
I also appreciate the fact that there was no hard selling at all. Instead, it was a totally relaxing and pampering session, something that I genuinely needed.
