The makers of the first watch in space have just dropped their most stunning timepiece of 2018 – and it is a thing of beauty…

OMEGA took to their website to announce the latest piece in their ‘Moonwatch’ series of speedmasters, an utterly gorgeous yellow and black edition named the ‘Dark Side Of The Moon Apollo 8’.

The watch is entirely coloured in striking black and a golden yellow, inspired by the Apollo 8 mission, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Under the black zirconium oxide ceramic case sits a black-bridge Caliber 1869 movement. On the back of the case is engraved the quote “we’ll see you on the other side”, words taken from Astronaut Jim Lovell before his lunar module lost radio contact with the Earth.

The face is finished off with a lunar surface effect, with yellow “Super-LumiNova” accents added on underneath the leather strap and on the second hands.

It’ll be available soon from Omega’s website, where it’s expected to retail for about US$13,500.
