A vibrant, larger-than-life cultural intersection is coming to Singapore. This June, the Marina Square Atrium will transform into the SESAME STREET MAGICAL ART WORLD, marking the highly anticipated Southeast Asian debut of this internationally acclaimed showcase. Running from 5 to 28 June 2026, the exhibition bridges the nostalgic, educational legacy of Sesame Street with the bold, boundary-pushing world of modern art.
For over five decades, Sesame Workshop has used television and media to help children grow smarter, stronger, and kinder across 190 countries. Now, in an exclusive collaboration with cultural innovation platform COEXIST, that very same spirit of inclusivity and joy is being reinterpreted through the eyes of ten renowned global contemporary artists.
The result? A thought-provoking, visually spectacular playground where pop culture and fine art seamlessly collide.
Larger-Than-Life Sculptures and Global Canvas Walls
Step into the atrium, and you are immediately greeted by six monumental inflatable sculptures that dominate the space. Created by international art heavyweights including Spain’s Edgar Plans, Japan’s Jun Oson, and Indonesia’s Laksamana Ryo and RYOL, these towering installations fuse each artist’s signature aesthetic with the iconic features of beloved Sesame Street characters.
Beyond the inflatables, the exhibition walls serve as an expansive, immersive gallery featuring massive paintings that wrap around the inner and outer boundaries of the atrium. Visitors can wander through a rich tapestry of cultural perspectives crafted by a stellar lineup of international creators:
- Jun Oson (Japan): Known for his pop-infused graphic style and collaborations with brands like ZARA and Toyota.
- Edgar Plans (Spain): Famous for his whimsical, raw, and street-art-influenced “animal heroes” that tackle grown-up issues with childlike optimism.
- Laksamana Ryo (Indonesia): A rising star in the pop-surrealism scene whose charming, anime-inspired imagery masks deep contemporary commentary.
- Super Future Kid (Germany): Whose ultra-bright, emotionally engaging works explore identity and alternate realities.
- Alex Chien (Greece): Presenting bold, humorous, and fantastical cartoon-like reality checks.
- Jordi Alós (Mexico): Bringing a touch of rebellious art brut and street-life narrative to the collection.
The exhibition also features standout works from Jeremy Yamamura, Jade Kim, Suanjaya Kencut, and J30000, proving that the message of Sesame Street truly transcends geographical borders.
Immersive Playzones for the Little Ones
The exhibition is meticulously designed to ensure that while art enthusiasts marvel at the canvas walls, children have an equally enchanting, tactile experience. The interactive zones include:
Doodle Wonder Alley
An evolving masterpiece where guests are handed chalk and invited to unleash their imagination. Visitors can colour within comic-style outlines of Sesame Street characters drawn onto maze-like walls, turning the alley into a collective community artwork by the end of the month.
Bounce & Play Pit
A vibrant, high-energy ball pit designed for pure joy. Open to children aged 4 to 12, it accommodates up to 10 children per session on a first-come, first-served basis (time slots required).
Golf Play
A whimsical, six-hole mini-golf adventure built around playful Sesame Street themes. Young players (ages 4 to 12) receive a club and a soft ball to navigate the course. Note: Children must wear socks to participate, and sessions are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Kids Activity Booklet
Every child will receive a custom-designed activity booklet packed with fun challenges to guide them through the gallery. Even better: the first 2,000 children to complete the activities can redeem a complimentary set of colouring pencils to take home.
Exclusive Merchandise and Collectibles
No lifestyle exhibition is complete without the chance to take a piece of the magic home. A curated retail counter will feature exclusive, limited-edition merchandise showcasing the unique artwork from the exhibition’s global artist lineup.
Furthermore, shoppers who spend a minimum of $100 at Marina Square can redeem an exclusive, artist-designed Creative Streets Tote Bag (complete with a matching small pouch) featuring striking collaboration designs by Jun Oson, Laksamana Ryo, or RYOL. To qualify for the redemption, visitors simply need to download the Marina Square App and register as a member.
