Introducing The Masterpiece REMAKE Series With Batik
Starting 1st November, UNIQLO will also launch its new Masterpiece REMAKE customisation services, inspired by the iconic batik textile art. These services will allow customers to add a personalized touch to their favourite LifeWear pieces, with batik prints and embroidery that celebrate Singapore’s rich cultural heritage.
Batik, a textile art form that symbolizes peace and harmony, holds significant meaning across Asia, especially in ASEAN countries. It has been a key representation of Singapore’s diverse identity, with intricate designs that tell stories of the nation’s history and culture. By incorporating batik motifs into its Masterpiece REMAKE Series, UNIQLO is offering customers a chance to bring home a piece of this timeless tradition.
Collaborating with London-based garment maker Studio Masachuka, known for its expertise in traditional Japanese techniques, UNIQLO will provide customisation services that feature batik textiles, enabling customers to add a unique flair to their clothing. These custom services will be available exclusively at the Orchard Central Flagship store, with embroidery designs priced at just $10 each.
Exclusive Batik-Inspired Embroidery Designs by HAFI
To further enhance the cultural significance of this initiative, UNIQLO has partnered with Singaporean illustrator and visual artist HAFI to release eight exclusive batik-inspired embroidery designs. HAFI, who has a background in fine arts and South Southeast Asian art history, brings a deep appreciation for regional art and heritage to her collaboration with UNIQLO.
These intricate embroidery designs will be available for permanent customisation at the Orchard Central store, allowing customers to embellish their LifeWear items with timeless motifs that celebrate Singapore’s artistic traditions. Whether it’s an Oxford Shirt, a Round Mini Shoulder Bag, or a UNIQLO U AIRism Cotton Crew Neck Oversized T-shirt, customers can choose to add these unique batik-inspired designs for a personalized, meaningful touch.
Embracing Sustainability Through Style
UNIQLO’s new repair and customisation services highlight the brand’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainability and slow fashion. By encouraging customers to mend and customize their clothing, UNIQLO is helping to reduce waste while allowing individuals to express their style.
This initiative also serves as a celebration of craftsmanship and cultural appreciation, bridging Japanese and Southeast Asian textile traditions.
