I travel a lot, but my budget usually only stretches to lower—to middle-priced hotels. Even with a tight budget, I have stayed in some interesting and unusual places on my travels, including three locations in India: a Brahmin Palace in Jodhpur, a small guest house in Udaipur that teaches local children how to read thanks to the profits from supplying accommodation, and a cute hotel inside the fort walls in Jaisalmer.
I have learned the hard way that my choice of accommodation can play a pivotal role in shaping my overall experience. I had a terrible time in a hotel in Lisbon, which framed my experience in a city everyone seems to love.
So, while you don’t need to spend lots of money to have a great time in some places if you have the cash and want to splash to enjoy an elite experience, then here are some suggestions for hotels to spoil yourself in.
