A trio of fresh GW-B5600CD timepieces represents the latest collaboration between G-SHOCK and the Charles Darwin Foundation, an organisation dedicated to environmental conservation efforts in the Galápagos Islands.
The Charles Darwin Foundation, an international non-profit organisation, is devoted to preserving the natural environment of the Galápagos Islands. Engaged in diverse activities, including the surveying of marine and terrestrial life in the Galápagos Islands and promoting nature conservation initiatives, the foundation marks its second partnership with G-SHOCK, the first dating back to 1999.
The newly introduced GW-B5600CD shock-resistant watches showcase designs that incorporate silhouettes of creatures native to the Galápagos Islands, set against the backdrop of their lush natural habitats. While built upon the foundation of the GW-B5600—a timepiece equipped with radio wave reception and Tough Solar charging capabilities—the new GW-B5600CD watches boast a bezel and band crafted from bio-based resin derived from renewable organic resources.
Each of the three watches presents a unique design motif on the face: a hammerhead shark navigating an ocean environment for the GW-B5600CD-1A2; a Darwin’s finch amidst the foliage of a Scalesia forest, one of its preferred habitats, for the GW-B5600CD-1A3; and a Galápagos giant tortoise in a rocky location, one of its favoured habitats, for the GW-B5600CD-9. Silhouettes of the featured creatures also grace the LCD when the backlight is illuminated.
The case back proudly displays the Charles Darwin Foundation logo, while a band inscription in Spanish, translating to “I support Galápagos conservation,” further underlines the commitment. A portion of the proceeds from these watches will contribute to supporting the Charles Darwin Foundation’s ongoing conservation endeavours.
The Charles Darwin Collaboration watches are priced at $249 will be available for purchase at G-SHOCK retailers and online. Sign up for CASIO ID to purchase it online.
