I was excited when I was asked to review the andSons hair loss treatment. I had been struggling with hair loss for some time, having noticed my hair thinning on top and in the center of my head after my 35th birthday. I was hopeful that the andSons treatment would help me to regrow my hair and regain my mojo.

When the andSons hair loss treatment package arrived, I was thrilled to find a bottle of 3% Redensyl Hair Serum, a Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner, Biotin supplements, and a dermaroller. I was familiar with  dermarollers, I was also familiar with the benefits of biotin supplements for hair health. I was less familiar with Redensyl, a plant-based ingredient that has been shown to promote hair growth, but I was eager to learn more about it.

The first thing I tried out was their thickening shampoo and conditioner. Their thickening Complex shampoo Is infused with extra Strong 5% saw palmetto, Caffeine and argan. There’s been research to show that saw palmetto fruit might prevent testosterone from being converted to a more potent form called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is one of the causes of balding in men. The caffeine is rich in antioxidants to protect your hair follicles while the argan oil is to help thicken and smooth your hair. The shampoo made my hair feel clean but not dry like some shampoos.

The only thing which I wasn’t too thrilled about was the peppermint and menthol added to the shampoo, which left a very cooling effect, but also gave me mild anxiety every time the shampoo came close to my eyes.

The biotin supplements came as a pack of gummies and were seriously delicious which made them very easy to pop and take daily. The supplement is a key nutrient for your hair and nails and taken daily, will help strengthen your new hairs from the treatment.

I recently started using a dermaroller after learning about its potential to stimulate hair growth. Studies have shown that microneedling can trigger the healing process in the scalp, which can activate stem cells and promote the formation of new hair follicles. However, this effect is often enhanced when combined with other treatments, such as minoxidil or finasteride.

I was impressed with the quality of the andSons dermaroller. The 0.5mm needles were a good size trigger hair growth and the handle  was made of soft, velvety plastic, which felt much better than the cheap, hard plastic on my previous roller. It also came with a handy case to protect the needles from bending.

They also recommended cleaning the microneedles with an alcohol spray after use. This is an important step, given that the dermaroller will be piercing your skin each time you use it. The last thing you want is to introduce unwelcome bacteria into the holes.

The Redensyl was something that I was bit reluctant to try as there is limited credible research on Redensyl’s effectiveness. A small, randomised, placebo-controlled study found that 3% redensyl increased hair count by 17 hairs per cm² in 14 participants. However, the study’s small sample size and cherry-picked data make it difficult to draw definitive conclusions and there is very little credible information or research on the subject. My advice is to try it out and see if you see any results. Give it some weeks to take effect as new hairs need time to grow, however if you experience any itchy scalp or other symptoms, do stop it immediately.

After the trial, I could definitely see the benefits of keeping my scalp healthy and clog-free with a good shampoo. I also felt that I had a fuller head of hair, which was confirmed by the mirror test after a shower.

If you are experiencing male pattern baldness, I recommend the hair loss complete kit. It comes with the DHT blocking pill, which you take once a day, along with the dermaroller, shampoo and conditioner, and biotin supplements. If you are still undecided about switching from minoxidil to Redensyl, I recommend at least using minoxidil, the DHT blocking pill, and the dermaroller.

Be patient, as it takes four to six weeks to start seeing any results. It takes time for new hair to grow, but I have no regrets and would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to regain their full head of hair.
