My DIY All Purpose Cleaner

Advertisements

In an attempt to create less waste, I have been trying to make my own ‘cleaning stuff’ recently. While I am no way close to being zero-waste, I try to be as ‘green’ and responsible as I can, which I feel is the least we can do, as ‘tenants’ of the planet.

In the past, I would not have thought twice about grabbing a bottle of deliciously scented multipurpose cleaner for $10 from the supermarket. But for the past few years, I have been making my own cleaner, which literally costs me almost nothing and generates very low waste.

I initially started weaning myself off store-bought cleaners, by using essential oils like lavender for its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties or tea tree for its antibacterial properties, on a damp cloth. While I still do this, I need to be careful, as both these essential oils are toxic to cats, and I freely admit to being a total cat lady. This is basically why I have switched to this super cheap and safe alternative.

This is a great daily cleaner that does its job and doesn’t even make an impact on the bank. If you don’t have cats, you can add a few drops of essential oil into the mix for scent and / or antibacterial benefits, depending on the oil you choose.

What you will need:

Just add all the ingredients into a clean spray bottle, shake and use. Its literally as simple as that. Happy cleaning!
